Road Resurfacing/Culvert Replacement: Fillmore St./Cottonwood Dr., 48th Ave. to Taylor St., Georgetown Twp.
WHEN: Starting on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022
WHERE: Fillmore St./Cottonwood Dr., 48th Ave. to Taylor St., Georgetown Twp.
WHY: Road Resurfacing/Culvert Replacement
BACKGROUND: The Ottawa County Road Commission has scheduled culvert replacement and road resurfacing along Fillmore Street/Cottonwood Drive from 48th Avenue to Taylor Street.
It is anticipated that the work will start on Monday, August 8, 2022.
The work will be completed in several stages beginning with resurfacing Fillmore Street from 48th Avenue to the bottom of the hill west of 28th Avenue.
Sometime in mid-September, Fillmore Street will be closed west of 28th Avenue and east of 24th Avenue as the work to replace the multiple cross culverts is anticipated to begin.
After the culvert replacement work is completed, the road resurfacing will commence from the bottom of the hill west of 28th Avenue to Taylor Street.
The road will be completely open to traffic during the two resurfacing phases of this project as this work can be completed using lane closures and traffic control.
The road resurfacing will take place in several stages and may take some time to complete. Inclement weather may also be a factor in the timely completion of the project.
Once all of the resurfacing work has been completed, a high-friction surface treatment will be applied across the road’s surface on the hilly and curvy section of Fillmore Street between the intersections of 36th Avenue and 28th Avenue, as well as on the curve where Fillmore Street turns into Cottonwood Drive. The high friction surface treatment will be applied to limit traffic accidents and provide enhanced safety in the treated areas.
