Road Resurfacing/Intersection Work: 8th St. & Chicago Dr., Holland Twp.

WHEN: July 10-Sept. 22, 2023

WHERE: Chicago Dr. from 8th St. to U.S. 31, and 8th St. from Fairbanks Ave. to U.S. 31 in Holland Twp.

WHY: Road Resurfacing/Intersection Reconstruction

BACKGROUND:

The Ottawa County Road Commission (OCRC) has scheduled road resurfacing and intersection reconstruction work along Chicago Drive from 8th Street to U.S. 31, and 8th Street from Fairbanks Avenue to U.S. 31 in Holland Township.

The $1.53 million project will begin July 10 and will consist of the following improvements:

• Reconstruction/reconfiguration of the Chicago Drive/8th Street intersection to remove the eastbound through lane and congregate all traffic to the signaled light.
• Resurfacing of 8th St. from Chicago Dr. to U.S. 31.
• The installation of pedestrian sidewalk along the south side of 8th St. by Holland Twp.
• Resurfacing of Chicago Dr. where asphalt is present and repairs of joints throughout the concrete portion from Fairbanks Avenue to U.S. 31.

Work is anticipated to last through Sept. 22. All dates are tentative, and construction work is weather dependent.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:

While all roads will remain open to traffic during the project, there will be temporary lane closures as well as periodic flagging operations.

Additionally, the eastbound through lane at 8th St./Chicago Dr. will close. Eastbound traffic on 8th St. will be routed to the 8th St./Chicago Dr. traffic signal to continue heading east on 8th St. toward U.S. 31.
