Seasonal/Summer Opportunities

SEASONAL (SUMMER) POSITIONS

Are you a college student majoring in Engineering, Construction or similar field and looking for a full time job to fill the summer months?

Ottawa County Road Commission has various full time seasonal positions available working May – August (can be flexible with starts dates for school schedules).

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.

Engineering Department
Positions based out of the Grand Haven office and will assist the department with surveying, staking, and other construction related tasks as assigned.  This work will mostly be outdoors and may entail walking through brush, traversing up and down steep slopes, carrying equipment, and being in and around moving traffic.  This position is Monday -Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm with some overtime which includes some Saturdays.

Data Collector
This position is based out of the Grand Haven office and will primarily assist the Environmental Coordinator with collection of data for drainage systems using a GPS.  This work will mostly be outdoors and may entail walking through brush, traversing up and down steep slopes, carrying equipment, and being in and around moving traffic.  This position is Monday -Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm

Facility Maintenance Help
These positions are based out of various garages and will help the Maintenance department with cleaning and basic maintenance of the garages such as but not limited to painting, mowing lawns, etc.  This work will vary between working indoors and outdoors.  These positions are M-F 7:00am-3:30pm

Road Crew/Traffic Regulator
These positions are based out of our various garages and will help the road crew with traffic control operations, brush clearing, and other basic maintenance as needed.  This work will mostly be outdoors and may entail walking through brush, traversing up and down steep slopes, carrying equipment, and being in and around moving traffic.  These positions are M-F 7:00am – 3:30pm
